Ideas To Make A Successful Work At Home Business

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

There are thousands of people all over the world that would absolutely love to quit their current job for a home based business opportunity. Home based businesses appeal to people in more ways than one, and can be a great way to get away from the day to day office routine. However, the reason that more people do not make the change to working at home is simple; they are usually scared of losing money, or being scammed. They are probably also terrified of stepping out of the comfort zone that they have created for themselves. They know that if they quit their current job, and then fail in their home based business that they are going to be in a bad situation. Although this may be the case at times, there are successful work at home business ideas that you can take advantage of. The best thing to do is research home based businesses that suit your interests, needs and help you in your situation. Then do more in depth research for the legitimacy of the business. There are negatives out there about this type of career but if you do your homework you can find something just right for you and that can also make you a success.

The majorority of people that succeed at running their own home based business are familiar with the particular industry that they are getting into. For example, if you are a registered nurse at a hospital, why not start your own home health care business? This would be much easier than trying to take on a job as a gardening consultant. Having knowledge and experience in the field that you are going to be pursuing will immediately increase your chances of succeeding. And, of course, having interest and liking what you’re doing makes a huge difference in your energy and determination.

There are also many people that just do not like their current job and would like to do something new, different and without working for someone else. If this scenario resembles your situation, there is several work at home business ideas that are very popular all over the world.

The first one is setting up a website and selling products. Even though this may sound like a congested market, there are vast options to choose from and you should be able to find a niche that has yet to be accessed. In order to find that ideal opportunity, you must research what is already out there, as well as, coming up with new ways to do things more advantageously. A lot of the time, people will disregard the research phase and end up getting burnt in the end. By omitting research, you may start up a business similar to several other established businesses. This will create a hardship for you from your starting point and to even compete, will be an up hill battle all the way.

It is true that there are some people that are marketing work at home businesses on the internet that are untruthful, misleading and, bottom line, fraudulant but there are honest and forthright avenues that are tangible. It is up to you, to determine your path of owning your own business from home and you can do it. Decide what it is you want to do, research all aspects of that area and you are well on your way to success. Know that with anything new you endeavor in life there are always lessons to be learned and at times it is frustrating but don’t give up. It will be only a matter of time before you’re running your own company, and your past job will be a memory.

Still Thinking Of Starting A Home Business

Friday, September 29th, 2006

For those who want to be the master of one’s own time or wish to earn few extra bucks alongside a regular income, a suitable Business to Start from Home would be the ideal panacea. And when it comes to the core issue, the type of business to start from home, there is no better option than internet network marketing, the web version of the old network marketing multi-level marketing (MLM).

In lay man’s language, internet network marketing is the way to distribute the products of manufacturer amongst consumers through a network or marketers as opposed to the conventional distribution chain consisting of manufacturer-warehouse-wholesaler-retailer-customer. The advantage with such a marketing technique is that it is fast, efficient, and more effective than the conventional types.

From the foregoing, it is pretty clear, why you must consider opting for internet network marketing as your choice of business to start from home. Here, not only you could earn a commission for selling the products to consumers by yourself, like in normal marketing models, but also could receive a percentage of the combined sales revenue achieved by your team of marketing personnel under you, which you may have build over a period of time. In fact, the latter part is the real power of network marketing and the main stay as an income earner.

To better understand the revenue potential of internet network marketing, consider the following example. When you sell the products to ten different customers, you would receive a percentage of the sales revenue as your commission. On top of that, if you have another 500 people working under your umbrella, you will also receive a percentage commission of the combined sales achieved by these people, the amount being a function of the sales achieved by them, taken together. And now with the help of internet, you are able to recruit 500 downlines in a very short period of time.

The basic arithmetic governing the whole sales process is simple. Assuming a person puts in 1 hour daily for his/her sales activities, 500 people doing it simultaneously amounts to 500 hrs a day, which would be quite an improbable task if a person alone has to handle that much work load and with the same output. So, naturally the increased output converts into sales, and hence more revenue for the company, a part of which will be paid to each of the individual marketers who form a link in the internet network marketing chain. As simple as that!

From an individual point of view, success in internet network marketing, as a business to start from home, depends on two aspects. They include finding the right product and how effectively you could build a sales team under you. Only the product in demand sells and it is the work put in by your downlines that eventually transforms into money and hence your success.

Does Internet MLM Actually Exists?

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

If you’re like many people (me included at one time) you’d love to find a way to build a MLM business totally automated and online. Wouldn’t that be wonderful! No dealing with actual human beings, just raking in money day and night on some automated, internet web site that does all your marketing, selling and relationship building for you while you sleep!

Well, sorry but it doesn’t work that way. While there are some incredible programs out there that can really help someone leverage the internet to grow their MLM or network marketing business (such as this one http://www.autopilotincome.ws), they don’t do it for you. You still need to actually market and you need to actually coach people and build relationships.

The internet is just a communications tool, much like the telephone or TV. When the telephone arrived did people say “I’m going to start a telephone-based marketing business where the telephone will do everything for me while I sit by the pool and read a celebrity magazine?” Of course not. People certainly leveraged the telephone to stay in touch with customers and team mates, to train people remotely, reduce travel expenses, market, etc. The telephone is a wonderful tool to help people do all of these things. I don’t know about you but when I get a call at home that is a recorded message I hang up immediately - I don’t care who it is! Why? Because I don’t connect with machines. I’m a person and I connect with other people. I follow people in my business whom I know, trust and respect. The same goes for people who follow me in my business.

So, use the internet to help you find customers and team members, to stay in touch, to train people, to build relationships, etc., but never forget, the “network” in network marketing is about networking with people, not computers.

Niche Selling

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

What do all these off the wall topics have in common?

-Learn to put on horseshoes
-Get your child into commercials

-Home designs from the 1800’s
-How to build a skateboard half-pipe
-Making money using a food cart
-How to make a play house for your cat
-Knitting patterns

What do these topics have in common besides they are each individually horribly boring to 99% of the population?

These are all successful eBook or information product topics created by “amateur” sellers on eBay. Even the most remote “niche” topic can find a buyer if the audience is big enough. With eBay the audience is MASSIVE. WACKY info SELLS on eBay!

Remember the beauty of selling info products is that you keep about 95% of the price as pure profit. There is no shipping if you sell downloadable information. Even if you burn CD’s or DVD’s the price to create your product is nominal compared to the income opportunity.

Looking for your own unique niche idea for an info product?

Here are some ideas:

Using Amazon.com

Look at best sellers lists on amazon.com. If a concept sells well there it will likely sell on eBay as an info product. Don’t spend too much time on the top 10 sellers. Drill down a bit for the good ideas.

To browse the various top seller lists from amazon.com use the drop down list in the upper left hand corner of the homepage. Look for the “SEARCH” prompt and select “books” from the list. Next, click “go”. You’ll see all the categories of books each with its own top 100 selling books list. That’s a great tool for searching out ideas.

Once you find an idea simply research it, test it (more on that in a moment) and begin selling it on eBay within days! I’ve told you about these ideas so many times that I won’t go into more detail here…read my book and old newsletters for details

DRILL DOWN

Let’s get nichey! (sounds like an “Old Navy” commercial doesn’t it?)

Don’t be afraid to DRILL DOWN to a smaller, more passionate niche audience! Examples of drilling down are subjects like “how to put horseshoes on a horse”, or “how to build a skateboard ramp”, or “how to build a play house for a cat”. Those are all REAL topics and they are each quite successful info products on eBay.

Some related topics that likely wouldn’t have done as well as the info products above are the broader topics that don’t appeal to the passions of the “die hard” enthusiasts. For example, consider these POOR topic choices: “The history of skateboarding” or “Why you should own a cat”. Those are topics that are already common knowledge among the “die hard” fan of each topic and they are too general to get a fan interested.

What results should you expect if you find a good niche topic?

In some cases remote topics are bringing the info-preneur over $1,000 each week JUST on eBay. Notice I said info-preneur and I didn’t say “author” because you don’t have to necessarily write to get an info product of your own. You can record your voice, interview an expert, create a video etc. The options are limitless and the skills you lack can be bought cheap any step along the way.

STEP BY STEP SELLS

Consider an info product that will be useful for hobbyists or enthusiasts by showing them step by step how to do something. A good friend of mine did this in a word document by taking pictures of the process and writing descriptions next to each image to explain the process. He turned the Word document into a PDF (simple) and he was in business.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

It is easier than ever to create video, audio and appealing graphics, but don’t feel like you have to have an amazing look and feel in order to sell an info product. My first info product still sells many copies everyday and has NO PICTURES and only one CHEESY graphic repeated in a few places. It’s 20 pages long, but it gives the reader the info they want.

SUCCESS IS CERTAIN

Have a topic that you think MIGHT do well? You’ll never know without testing it out first.

Step one: Write your sales letter (keep it simple - that’s okay)
Step two: Put your sales letter on eBay and see if anyone wants the idea!

In the past I’ve even created eBook covers (a book image) BEFORE I’ve written my eBook. I then set up a “mock” 7 or 10 day auction on eBay with a sales letter BEFORE I EVEN STARTED THE BOOK. Next I monitor the interest level by watching traffic and bidders. If there is interest I cancel the auction BEFORE IT ENDS and notify the bidding customers who they will get a free copy of the book once it’s finished.

If there isn’t any interest after 7 to 10 days I cut my losses and try a new topic. The total time invested is a “losing” idea is minimal using this strategy.

The winning ideas start out as eBay auctions and then quickly move OFF eBay (hidden from competition) to a website, affiliate programs, mailing lists etc…that’s more info than you need to get going though so I think I’ll cut this article off right here…

Are All Work at Home Jobs Scams?

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

The advent and ease of use of the Internet have brought work at home jobs into a whole new era. Unfortunately, just like in times past, work at home job scams have come right along with legitimate work. If you’re looking for work at home jobs online and become frustrated and confused, there are a few simple guidelines to follow. By paying attention to the following signals, you’ll find rewarding and legitimate work at home jobs.

In your search for work at home jobs, make sure to pay close attention to the website where the opportunity is presented. A legitimate job will always have contact information where you can reach the company. If you have any qualms about the work at home job, always use the contact information on the website to reach someone who can answer your questions. This will also allow you to test whether or not the contact information is up to date.

If a website makes outrageous claims for their work at home jobs (like earning $1000s in just a few days) it is probably a scam. Also watch out for work at home job sites that claim they will find you a position, but only end up selling you information. No legitimate work at home job will ask for money.

Legitimate work at homes jobs are there to be found. There are many companies both on and off line that are willing to pay people to work from home. Customer service positions, telemarketing, writing and sales are normally legitimate work at home jobs. These types of jobs pay on a per-project or commission basis.

Many websites specialize in work at home jobs, and some list legitimate jobs that have been carefully screened. Most of the time, work at home jobs are listed by category and there are links to the main companies website from the third party site. Regardless of where you get your work at home job leads, do your research carefully before you invest your time in an opportunity.

Make Extra Cash On Weekends

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Do you work at 9 to 5 job seven days a week? If so, you are probably tied up during the week. In other words, you do not have a lot of time to chase after other money making ventures. But what about on the weekends? If you are up to it there are many things that you can do on the weekend to make a bit of extra money.

If you are interested in earning a bit of extra money on the weekends there are options to consider. And if you play your cards right you may be able to make more money than you ever thought possible. Listed below are just a few of the weekend jobs that you may want to look into.

1. In today’s day and age there is no better way to make some extra money than by using the internet. The internet is the world’s biggest marketplace, and if you know how to use it correctly you can start to make a decent secondary income on the weekends. Research the options that are available online, and then make a decision as to which ones will work best with you and your current schedule. You may even find a weekend job on the internet that you can turn into a full-time job over time if you so desire.

2. Some people think that delivering the newspaper is for kids, but if you want to make some extra money on the weekends it is also a good option for working folks. Check with your local paper and see if they are hiring for weekend delivery people. Doing this a couple of days a week can make you a bit of extra money without having to put in too much time and effort.

3. Become a part-time landscaper. If you like working outdoors, and are good at fixing up people’s lawns, you should look into a job as a weekend landscaper. This can mean everything from cutting grass to planting trees. You can do whatever you are good at.

4. Take your full-time job and extend it to seven days a week by doing contract work. For example, if you work at a web design firm you can do contract work for clients on the weekend. Being a freelancer in your field is a great way to make extra money on the weekends. Plus, you already have the knowledge that you need in order to get started. This makes the start up process much easier.

Overall, making extra money on the weekends is more than possible. Listed above are just four ideas to consider. Hundreds more are available, and you can find them in no time if you start searching today.

High Energy Work From Home

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Once you’re about to start a work from home business, you should bear in mind that your subconscious get fuel from thoughts of defeat or success. You can think about it as a chain reaction. Whatever you choose to think about, or dwell on will have a deep effect on your mind, which will influence everything you do.

It has no matter what your goals are set to be, your success level will only be as high as you allow it to be. Think about following : If you get frustrated, give up and call your task a failure, that frustration will become a heavy burden to carry towards your work from home business success.

On the other side of the coin, if you follow through with your task, work hard and get it done, the impact of that successful mission, will have a positive effect on the rest of your work. This allows you to approach other projects with more confidence, which will have a big positive impact at your work from home business.

Your confidence will increase from satisfying yourself with what you can achieve. The more positive you allow yourself to be, the more things you will be able to achieve.

We often see people getting annoyed over some small issue or problem. This emotion will influence their attitude and their ability to be successful. I’m not saying it’s possible to always being even tempered. Of course there will be times when it’s not possible to keep the lid on. But you want to learn to not get caught up emotionally in something that really isn’t that important.

Sometimes you’ll have to struggle with your temper, but most of the times it’s not going to make any difference, so why bother? Just turn around and do your thing. You decide what your attitude will be like. And because of that you can control your effectiveness, productivity and the results, both in your work from home business and your personal life.

It all boils down to that you’re able to choose how to think, and what to think about. Granted it will take some effort to learn how to always think positive, it’ll be well worth it. Your effort will change your subconscious mind, and make you the person you want to be.

Take the command of your subconscious mind and the rest of your life. Don’t let your subconscious mind control you. Always think positive. Do that and your work from home business dreams will come trough.

Starting Your Work From Home Business

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

So you want to start your own work at home business, eh? Good! Do you know how to start? There’s no doubt you can actually get filthy rich with a successful work at home business. To get started, all you need is to come up with an idea (a great one); something that’s truly unique, something which has never been thought of before, then start a business based upon it. That’s it! Of course there’s more work to do once you’ve come out with a great idea. But once you get that great idea out of your head, the rest is really not that hard to accomplish. Nevertheless, how come there are thousands of work at home businesses that have turned out to be total failures in spite of being based on great ideas? Obviously, it’s not for the lack of genuinely unique ideas. Many of these failed businesses have truly unique ideas behind them. The problem lies primarily in the fact that their creators are not familiar with the basics involved in running a work at home business.

The Legal Form of A Work at Home Business

Let’s take a look at the very first factor you should take into account when deciding to start a work at home business. The first thing you should think about when starting a work at home business is its legal form. What’s with the legal form? The legal form of your work at home business is the actual facet of the business that you’ll be operating under. There are usually four legal forms that you’ll be able to choose from if you’re just starting. These legal forms choices are: partnership, limited partnership, corporation and sole proprietorship. The most obvious choice for most work at home businesses is sole proprietorship. If you’re starting a work at home business, it goes without saying that you’re looking for that freedom and independence not found in your current ordinary job. And with sole proprietorship you get that independence.

Successful Work at Home Business - Pitfalls to Avoid

Being successful in a work at home business involves certain characteristics that you need to develop. One of the most basic traits you must develop is a tight hold on your expenses. This is really important because if you don’t pay close attention to this aspect of your business you could simply become a complete failure among the thousands failed work at home businesses. Don’t waste your start-up capital on add-ons such as expensive furnishings, an impressive store-front office, corporate legal costs, etc. A good advice to follow is to not never purchase anything that you really don’t need; anything that doesn’t make you money or protect your investment. This is where a work at home business on sole proprietorship is very favorable - the protection of your investment.

A work at home business on sole proprietorship allows you invest everything you have without the need for a corporation to protect your investment. You’ll receive full protection from the homestead provision of the Federal Bankruptcy Act. This is an enormous benefit because according to the Federal Bankruptcy Act, your personal belongings, household possessions, usually your car, and even a portion of the equity of your home cannot be taken away from you!

However, just like with any type of business there’s something you’ll have to deal with no matter what. As a sole proprietor or partner of a work at home business, you’ll be subject to tax cuts. This is pretty much the same as when you still held down a salaried or hourly paid job. This is one of the aspects that differentiate a corporation from a sole proprietorship. Unlike a sole proprietorship, with a corporation you can generally manipulate your salary in order to save on tax dollars. And although the IRS commonly frowns on this practice, this is very common with corporation laws. All in all, you’ll be subject to a number of drawbacks when you decide to incorporate your work at home business. Among the drawbacks you’ll face include higher state taxes and stricter laws concerning the operation of your work at home business. In addition, you’ll need more elaborate accounting procedures and prepare legal papers that are required every time you make a major move with your work at home business.

Being successful in business especially in a work at home business involves some very basic factors that you need to consider. If you can actually understand these basics (as described above) thoroughly, you’ll be on your way to being the owner of a very successful work at home business.

What You Must Do Before You Sell Anything

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

This is a corner that many people cut. Not only will it keep Uncle Sam happy, if you don’t do this it will actually contribute to you not succeeding online. If you don’t go to the very small inconvenience to get a business license how are you going to believe in your head and heart that you’re going to operate a successfully online.

Just do it and get it over with. The easiest way to find out what you need to do is by searching online. At the very least you’ll probably need to get a business license with your city. They’ll probably also require you to have a fictitious name or DBA (Doing Business As).

For instance say you want to name your business “Joe’s Artifacts” and your name is Joe Schmo then your legal business name would be Joe Schmo DBA Joes Artifacts. I’m not going to make any recommendations on weather you should incorporate or not. Talk to a professional accountant about that.

If you’re going to be selling a physical product (batteries, XBOX units or whatever) then your state will probably require you to get a State Tax ID Number also commonly referred to as a State Reseller Certificate.

Also, don’t even think about talking to a wholesaler if you don’t have a Reseller Certificate. Real wholesalers will require you to have this. It’s how they know that you’re a real business. If a wholesaler doesn’t ask for a copy of it or at least a copy of your business license then they’re probably not a real wholesaler.

The first thing I would do to find out what I need to get is go to Google. If I lived in Pittsburgh, PA I would type in “Business License Pittsburgh, PA”. Then to find out about the Reseller Certificate I would type in the same thing except replace “Business License” with “Reseller Certificate”.

Also, you’re going to want to get a business checking account. There are many banks that have totally free business checking. Almost all merchant account providers will require you to have a business checking account. Just do it, it will help with organization anyway. Also your bank will probably want to see a copy of your business license to set up a business account.

Let me say one more time, please don’t cut corners and not do this stuff or tell yourself you’ll do it later. Start off on the right foot and you’ll set a precedent for yourself that will help you in the future. Start off on the wrong foot by not doing this and you’ll set a precedent for yourself that will hinder you in the future.

6 Easy Steps To Increase Your Adsense Earnings

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

One great way to increase your profits is by setting up Adsense to your websites. Some webmasters are generating hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense ads on their websites. How are they doing it? Follow these 6 proven tips and you too can improve your Adsense earnings.

1. Choose the right format. Currently Google offers 11 different styles of text ads and 9 styles of banner ads. The one format that works well for the majority is the large rectangle (336X280). This format tends to result in higher click through rates. Using this format will make the ads look like normal web links.

2. Choose the placement of your ad. If Adsense is at the bottom of your page, then move it towards the top. You want Adsense in a spot where people will see it right away. You will be amazed how the location of your Adsense code can affect your earnings.

3. Look into automation using SSI. SSI stands for server side included. With this method, you simply save your Adsense code to a text file. Then you can upload this file to the root directory of your web server. You can then use SSI on a page and call the test file. This is a great method for somebody that wants to add Adsense to numerous pages on there website.

4. Customize the palette or color of your ad. You will want to choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. You want the Adsense ad to blend in with the rest of your page, not stand out from it. This will also result in more clicks.

5. Use the correct content. Google will put ads on your website that relate to your content. Therefore, you must be specific with the content of your page. Make sure that each of your pages has a specific theme or topic.

6. Dare to be different and unique. There is bound to be many other websites sharing the same topic as you and some of them will probably have Adsense ads running. Try to make your page more desirable then your competitors. You goal is for visitors to click on your Adsense ads, not ads from another site.

One word of warning. Adsense ads can generate income for you but they also send your visitors away from your site. If you have a website that has a high profit potential for the goods or service that you are selling, then you want to keep your visitors on your site.
