Is it legal to resell games, softwares, and videos that you’ve bought?

I have had this issue in my head for the past couple days, it all started one day with my friend. He bought a video in a retail store for around $30. After he and his family have watched it, he decided to make a copy of it for backup purposes. A friend of his proposed to buy the retail copy of the video for $8. The issue here is my friend is selling the retail copy for $8, not the copied one. Does reselling infringe any copyright law? I say it is illegal, but my friend’s family say it is not illegal because they are selling the retail copy.

If selling retail copies of a video is illegal, then why are video game stores allowed to buy people’s old video games and accessories? Do the stores have a special license or something?

its not illegal - people sell games, videos, software and other stuff on ebay and other sites all the time.

If he sold the copied version, that's illegal. It's not illegal to resell the original. People do it all the time.

I want to know the detailed procedure how can I resell digital delivery items purchased on eBay. How to attach photo and how to attach the files in original conditions. I also require to know how to convert the files from word form to pd f and zip format. whether both are necessary or any one of them will do. I have collected certain data regarding one issue in word form now i want to place it on ebay how to do it. Hello all

Im looking for an eBook website to start up an eBook business.
I currently sell a number of digital items in the public domain on eBay as well as a few other aucton sites such as QXL 121Bid etc.
But What Im looking for is my own eBook website.

Ideally Id very much like to divert people to a download page on that site when they purchase an item from me.

At the moment Im just linking directly to the item itself and I know that is'nt going to really generate me any repeat sales.

If I had an actuall website I could divert people to when such as a members area then Im sure it would increase my sales.

I know theres some eBook sites you can buy that come pre-filled with eBooks and its just a matter of installing that on your server and adjusting it but I thought Id ask on here to see if anyone could offer any advice about the whole matter and possibly point me in the right direction?

There are two ways this would be legal:

1. You have purchased each copy of the ebook you want to sell (so if you're offering 15 for sale, you actually bought 15 copies)

2. You have an agreement with the books publisher or author (if they are self published) that allows you to sell the book.

Other than that, I doubt it's legal.

I am looking for the best/most popular item to import from China/Asia to resell to stores here in the USA. Currently I import Sterling Silver jewelry and it does well. However I am looking at expanding my offerings and am looking for another somewhat small, lightweight item with high value that I can import from Asia. (obviously thats not jewelry like I have now). Currently I sell to gift shops and that is my main market. So when I approach these gift shops I or my sales person can show them something other then jewelry to help give me selling options. The gift shops are "Hallmark" type stores that just sell generic gifts. I am not interested in importing greeting cards though as that market is too crowded. Any suggestions on what items you would like to see in stores or anything that is light weight, high value and great for gift shops will be appreciated.

Although I offer resell rights for the item I'm selling, I do not allow people to copy my copyrighted text and pictures (nor does ebay). I even added html code into the page to stop people from copying it (it prevents them from highlighting or right clicking anything), but somehow this person found a way around this. I already reported them to ebay and supplied my proof of copyright but I want to know how to prevent others.
