Lionder Web Design Agency

Origins: In 2004 we began noticing a new scam targeting those searching for part-time paid duties that could be performed from home. This new con uses the promise of high-paying work to lure eager job seekers into being defrauded themselves or used to steal from others.

Those so led down the garden path are pulled in by advertisements for jobs involving the forwarding of monies or goods collected in the U.S. to business entities in other countries. Supposedly, the successful applicants will make thousands of dollars through working from home for a few hours a week, with no special skills or training required. Sometimes international wire transfers are specifically mentioned in these solicitations, and the terms "import/export specialist," "marketing manager," and "financial manager" often turn up in their wording. The reputations of the venues where the ads are found proves no protection to those looking for such opportunities, in that this work-at-home scam has been touted thousands of times on popular job web sites including Monster, Careerbuilder, Careers.com, and Yahoo! Hotjobs.

This con operates in one of two of ways, both of which leaves hopeful job seekers in a mess of trouble:

In its more usual incarnation, successful job applicants are tasked with depositing checks for varying amounts (anywhere from a few thousand dollars all the way into the six-figure range) into their personal bank accounts and relaying to their new employers 95% of the amount banked, keeping 5% as their commission. The explanation given by the employers for that which necessitates their having someone cash checks on their behalf varies from come-on to come-on, but the need to believe in 'something for nothing' (in this case a high steady income in return for a few hours' work per week) blinds the about-to-be-defrauded to the glaring implausibilities inherent to these tall tales of strange government-imposed restrictions, exorbitant tax rates in the homeland, the need to fly under a competitor's radar, and the like. The checks the unsuspecting dupes are given to deposit are worthless, but this detail is not discovered by them or their banks until weeks after the fact, which is long after 95
% of the face value of said financial instruments has been wired to the thieves. As is the case in the 'cashier check' scam (sellers are duped into accepting cashier checks in excess of the amounts they seek for their goods on the understanding they are to forward the additional monies to third parties), the scam works because the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) requires banks to make money from cashier's, certified, or teller's checks available in one to five days. Consequently, funds from checks that might not be good are often released into payees' accounts long before the checks themselves have been honored by their issuing banks. High quality forgeries can be bounced back and forth between banks for weeks before anyone catches on to their being worthless.

In this form of the scheme, those who'd thought they were about to pack up and move to Easy Street thanks to their new jobs as international relayers instead find themselves on the hook for the amounts they wired to others. That the original checks were worthless does not absolve those who deposited them from financial responsibility for the funds they subsequently instructed their banks to pay out — the two transactions (the deposit and the disbursement) are regarded as separate. Therefore, if a hypothetical erstwhile wire transfer facilitator handled a bogus check for $10,000, instead of netting $500 (his 5% fee), he would be out $9,500 (the amount he had his bank wire to those who'd conned him).

The mayhem doesn't neccesarily end there. There is a further danger that, now armed with the dupe's banking information from the wire transfer, these same thieves can use those numbers to create a demand draft to withdraw funds without confirmation from the hapless job seeker's bank account until there's nothing left in it but dust.

In another version of the con, those who land these coveted 'jobs' are tasked with collecting payments from their new employers' clients in the U.S. and wiring these funds back to the home office, retaining a specified portion of the recouped accounts as their fees. Only after the fact does it come to light that the deposited checks were for non-existent merchandise vended through online auction sites, usually about the time that the police come a'knocking on the door.

This form of the wire transfer scam mirrors a type of the CNP fraud in which job-seeking dupes are hired to repackage and ship to Nigeria goods purchased on stolen credit cards. As with the wire transfer come-on, the promise of easy, high-paying part-time work blinds those who unwittingly become part of an international theft ring thanks to their desire to believe in the job fairy. In both cases, they're the ones left holding the bag when the police turn up to ask questions about the monies or goods others have been duped out of.
Those searching for employment opportunities that will allow them to work from home are all too often the very people who can least afford to be defrauded. Although a great many folks daydream about earning livable incomes from the comfort of their dens rather than having to make the trek to their offices each day, they do not as a general rule of thumb search for such job openings with the same fervor as do the elderly, the physically afflicted, or the parents committed to remaining at home with their preschool children. Members of those groups hunt for work-at-home opportunities because laboring in more traditional job settings is impossible for them. Because genuine offers of work of this nature are few and far between, with the need to secure a steady income becoming more of a pressing issue with each passing non-employed day, those folks are at far greater risk of being victimized by such schemes — their desperation leads them to be gulled by pie-in-the-sky promises and mollified by the wild backstories
that go with them whereas the financially better off are more likely to remain convinced something is very wrong with the offer of mucho bucks in exchange for only a few hours' labor performed from home each week by folks possessed of no special training or skills.

Barbara "reshipboard romance" Mikkelson

How To Avoid Falling Victim To Reshipper Scams:
Avoid job listings that use these descriptions: "package forwarding," "reshipping," "money transfers," "wiring funds" and "foreign agent agreements." These and similar phrases should raise a red flag.

Do not be fooled by official-sounding corporate names. Some scam artists operate under names that sound like those of long-standing, reputable firms.

Never forward or transfer money from any of your personal accounts on behalf of your employer. Also, be suspicious if you are asked to "wire" money to an employer. If a legitimate job requires you to make money transfers, the money should be withdrawn from the employer’s business account, not yours.

Do not give out your personal financial information. A potential legitimate employer will not request your bank account, credit card or Paypal account number. Provide your banking information only if you are hired by a legitimate company and you choose to have your paycheck direct deposited.

Do not fax copies of your ID or Social Security number to someone you have never met. Credit checks and fake IDs can be obtained with this information. Give these documents to your employer only when you are physically at the place of employment.

If you have questions about the legitimacy of a job listing, contact your Better Business Bureau, your state or local consumer agency, or the Federal Trade Commission.

Stop believing in the chimera of "something for nothing."

Answer

It sounds appealing, which is why so many people are interested in it. But, they will require you to give them money up front, and you will never make a dime. There are machines that will stuff envelopes a thousand times faster than a human can.

Most other home-based business opportunities, especially those that do not require a lot of money to get started, are just plain scams. Watch out also for the network marketing offers. They, too, will require money up front, & you have to go out and recruit the world to make a lot of money. These will leave you broke and dissappointed. Some are not as bad as Amway, but all of them require a LOT of hard work and sales to be successful. Avoid them all.

In order to have a successful business, either at home or elsewhere, you need to have a product or service that people want and/or need. Then, you have to go out and market your business. The vast majority of businesses fail within the first two years.

I tried to nake money in mail order, before the internet was big. The only people who made money in mail order were those that sold information on how to make money in mail order!

I'm looking for a legitimate work at home opportunity stuffing envelopes can someone help me?

I have been scammed by a company and am just looking for a legitimate work at home opportunity. I have been looking on the internet for hours each day and it seems like all I'm getting is the run around. Please help thank you.

Answer

I can understand your problem, I see so many people looking for something they can do from home, and then you get all the answers, most of which, I find, are not all they are cracked up to be.
9 years ago I found an opportunity that was absolutely brand new, but I was very wary until I got the chance to meet the Company President, what he said convinced me to take a chance and now I am really glad I did, every thing the President promised has been achieved and exceeded.
In actual fact the business opportunity is so ethical, that it is the only business of its type, to have been endorsed by the multi-billionaire Donald Trump.
If you would like to know more get back to me by email and I will give you some web sites to look at.

Does anyone know of a real stuffing envelope work at home jobs?

I keep getting ripped off and would only like to find the real thing

Answer

no, there are no legit jobs doing this. if there were, dont you think everyone would do it? if you are at college and are finding 100s of flyers, dont go to the site and dont call the number, and if you are looking online, they are all false.

sorry truth hurts, i wish they were real believe me

R there any legitimate work from home jobs eith stuffing envelopes or working from my pc?

im looking for work from home jobs that r legit and cost little or no money to do…no money is better….i was told once if they ask for money before the job is done its not legit..i dont know if thats true..and i dont want to get ripped off…i have medical and personal reasons that prevent me from working and i would like to find something working from home…hubby and i cant afford anymore for only 1 paycheck to be comin in..please help

Answer

I've been doing some work with www.elance.com the past week, all the work is home based, data entry, transcription etc. The only thing is you're competing against people from countries where the hourly rate of pay is a lot lower, so not sure if it would be worth it for you.

Also have a look at the jobs listed here, most are appicable to us,canada, europe, its quite good, thats where I found the above link.

http://www.working-from-home-jobs.com/

Its been updated today to include some Craft type jobs which can be done from home, mainly re-distribution, but it possible to make good money from it if you work hard.

So many online jobs are out there. In fact, to do any online job, you need not want to invest anything. Make sure, you dont pay anything to get jobs online. It is just that need to pick the one that suits you the best. I hope this helps you and–>I believe you will find the online job that you love the most. Thanks

Working from home (envelope stuffing)?

I'm looking for some extra work stuffing envelopes and would like to know how to go about getting this work (I live in Manchester).

Any help appreciated.

Answer

Why would anyone pay you to do what a machine can do better and faster. Any company offering envelope stuffing should be presumed to be a scam.

Has anyone ever gotten a job stuffing envelopes at home? Or do you know a legitimate company that offers this?

Answer

All reports I have ever read are that these are scams. Machinery (or interns) can stuff envelopes much cheaper than individuals working from home who get paid by the envelope. There are direct mail companies with the capabilities to stuff thousands of envelopes an hour at a minimal cost.

Is this company legit - Midland Marketing - stuffing envelopes sounds good & small investment.?

I got info on the program and okay, it might be a scam, but I wanna know if anyone else has done it. It says it's $35 to start & they send you the envelopes and postage. I've read all the info and I'm just wondering HOW it's a scam IF it's a scam. I think it said they pay $4 per envelope you mail out. It says the 35 dollars is for the "complete home mailer program". Can anyone enlighten me?
PS - I have a full-time job, just looking for something to get a little extra income so I'm not looking for a TON of money, but anything would help & I don't mind spending 35 dollars to try it out.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Answer

Here is a common envelope stuffing scenario:

You read an ad or get a piece of junk mail claiming that "Aunt Edna" makes $1,845.20 every week by doing fun and easy work right from her favorite armchair. For every envelope stuffed you earn $1 or $2 or some other amount.
Often the advertisement asks for an up-front fee of $29.95 or more just to make sure "you're serious" about their envelope stuffing program.

So far, so good. Easy work, big money. Being the cautious person you are, you may even read the ad several times to make sure you didn't miss anything.

Nope. Didn't miss anything. Sounds perfect!

You pay the fee and send off for the package. After all, they guaranteed your satisfaction with their envelope stuffing starter package (watch out! did you read the conditions on that guarantee?).

When your starter package arrives - assuming it does arrives - you gleefully tear it open. Yippee!

Your family watches you from a respectful distance, perplexed that you have found salvation in such a little package, and relieved because over the last few days you've been salivating so much there isn't an unlicked envelope within 100 meters of the desk.

As you read the literature in the package, it slowly dawns on you - you're not going to get paid $1 or $2 for every envelope you stuff. The instructions tell you to spread the news about the enveloping stuffing biz, then you'll get paid.

How, exactly, does that work, you ask?

By advertising the envelope stuffing program, of course.

Yep, they want you to help them earn those up-front fees by sending out the same letter you read and got so excited about.

They didn't tell you that part before you mailed your check, did they? You see, they won't pay you until they get paid.

Details, details.

How might one be instructed to advertise the program to others?

Well, you can place an ad asking people to send you a dollar to find out about the envelope stuffing program. That's how you earn $1,845.20 every week.

One dollar at a time.

Uh huh.

Or they might tell you to purchase a mailing list and send out a thousand or more of their "special sales letters". Of course, the letter you send out is the same one you received from dear old Aunt Edna.

Oh boy.

Or perhaps you could put up a web site? They won't tell you this, but make sure you don't post a legit phone number or a physical address. People tend to get angry when they've been scammed.

This is a big business. There are people promoting these envelope stuffing programs making thousands upon thousands of dollars from people who send in those up-front fees.

Ask yourself…

Does envelope stuffing represent a real business opportunity?

Does it provide a real service or product that has value?

While there are many variations to this envelope stuffing rip-off, they all follow the same pattern: get your money before you figure out how this scam really works.

How do i get started stuffing envelopes out of my home?

i really wana try this but i dont know how to get started… please help with providing information thanks

Answer

you wont be find anything like that from home if you see something like that advertised its going be a scam
like you have to pay up front fee or if you ever get them to stuff
and mail them there will a problem they would say its not up to "Par"
with "their standards" and thus wont pay you!

Answer

I don't know, but it is simply a way to create backlinks to your landing page and takes quite a bit of work to set up. You are probably better off using Linkvana or one of the backlink services.

What is "chaos scenario" in Internet Marketing?

Sorry i come form Taiwan
In my homework has a new word "chaos scenario".
i don't know what is mean??Please tell me. what is mean in the internet Marketing.
Thank you.

Answer

Chaos Scenario by Bob Garfield speaks of the decline in the old-world ad media (read print) and the lack of preparedness in the new-world media. He also hypothesises about the scenario where marketers deal directly with customers without requiring advertising.

Best Ways of Advertising?

My brother opened a roofing and siding business last year and was doing sub-contracting and has now decided to just go with his own business stuff this year. I am trying to figure out what the best way of advertising is for very inexpensive. I have done all the free stuff on the web, opened a web site, and am currently looking into the newspaper stuff. We have road and yard signs. The main thing I am wondering about is a press release. I read somewhere online that is a good idea for advertising. He just got Certified as a Master Shingler, will be getting his builders license this month, and like I said before he opened his business last year but this year he is on his own, and is going to go from a DBA to an LLC. Can he write a press release for free advertising? And if so what should it include? Also does anyone else have any creative ideas for advertising for a small Roofing and Siding Company in south-eastern Michigan (let stress the importantace of FREE or very che
ap advertising)

Answer

The best way is to integrate your marketing communications program…Overlap your ads to provide maximum exposure to the most peoiple in your target areas…yoiur ads should say the phone # and website…the website, "As seen in (publication name)"…etc.

Pennysavers are great…watch the zones and ad sizes…try to run an insane special for 'X' amount of sq foot…free gutters with every full 30 yr roof…etc. BUT, make it something he can afford. They will provide free artwork and try NOT to bury the ad…maybe a detached mailing label…slip sheet. Or testing it run a (10 week minimum) ad in the service guide in the back. Inserts are also greeat and you can do B&W for between 35-50 per 1000 CPM (Cost per thousand)…some minimums apply.

Newspaper is a true rip off in most areas

Radio is good, but for the roofing business…only during very specific times of year

TV…NO WAY…not for several years out.

Run a contest on his website

Knock on doors (seriously)

Word of mouth (WOM) is always the best

Send out holiday cards to customers

Ask your dealer representative (ASK!!!) about Co-Op dollars for advertising and how it works. Try to deal direct with the manufacturer if you can…target companies that give Co-Op dollars…you can possibly increase you advertising dollars by 100% (after reimbursement)

Sub contract by targeting GC's

ALWAYS place a yardfront sign when working at a property for the duration of the job…include a "Information tube" off the side and keep some fliers in it.

The list goes on…I hope this helps.

Article marketing software–Is it really helpful?

I'm starting out my article marketing campaign. I'm thinking of automating the process inorder to save time and energy. Can you recommend few article marketing software which are really good ??? How much does it cost ?

Answer

There are many article marketing software available in the market today. One of my internet marketer friend recommended me Unique Article Wizard.

I've been using Unique Article Wizard for almost a year now with amazing result. It costs US$67/month.

What is the best, no scams no out of pocket. work from home jobs?

I am looking for a job to do at home on my computer. That is a real job. get a paycheck without coming out of my pocket.and it not be a scam.

Answer

Work from Home

i have a job opportunity. you will own your own business and get residual pay. more information email me. me4sunrise@hotmail.com

iboplus.com/rmariev

Any scam free no cost work from home jobs?

Answer

Yes there are scam free no cost work from home jobs. What can you do? What are your experiences out there in the traditional world? There's a lot of things you can apply to and have a job working from home. The hiring process is the same as a traditional job. They expect certain qualifications, experiences, some will train though. Same as a traditional job. There are places like Alpine, West and a few others that are scam free. They are just jobs though. Nothing more, but they are scam free.

Work-at-home jobs that AREN'T scams?

Alright, I have a full-time job and would love to find something relatively easy to do on the side for a little extra money.

Does anyone know of ANY at-home jobs that don't require any fees and aren't pyramid schemes? I've looked online on and off for quite some time and can't seem to find much that looks legit.

I'm not interested in Avon, Mary Kay, or any sales position. Stuffing envelopes, data entry, light assembly, customer service?

Answer

Something easy will get you minimum waged income. You should really look into starting a home based business where the real money is at.
But if you can do data entry, have good customer service skills, pass a typing test, (40 WPM or more) you might be able to make $8.00 an hour. Here's an article that you can take a look at that has a couple companies that I knew people who used to work for. Check with one of them and see if they have an opening.

How do I identify a non scam work from home jobs online and is it real that people do earn money.?

I am a residence of kenya and have been curious about this opportunities online about working from home and making alot of money.is it real and how can i get one such a job.please advice if you know anything about this

Answer

I have been working from home in India for the past few months. My income comes mainly from Data Entry, Online Surveys and Transcription. The majority of the Data Entry and transcription comes from english speaking countries like the UK and USA.

I've given lists of companies who I've worked for on my blog. Hope you find this useful.

http://working-from-home-india.blogspot….

Do you think this is a work at home scam?

Does anyone know about www.ZIE.com ? This is what they are looking for: Personal Assistant/Clerk. The pay is $2,000 monthly plus bonus.
1. Receive and process payments from our clients form different countries
2. Make payments to our partners when necessary.
3. Send brochures, proposals, journals and bulletins to our clients.
4. Keying data into a database used to create quarterly and annual reports
5. Assisting with the coordination and compiling materials and sending client communications
6. Maintain and compile legal, and administrative records
7. Write official letters, reports and personal correspondence
8. We shall send to you, all materials in due time and names and addresses of companies or customer to send the materials to, postage will be taken care of.

Benefits includes;
• Stable, competitive base salary plus bonus opportunities
• Three weeks Paid Time Off yearly (Vacation, Holiday )
• Extremely affordable medical/dental coverage
• Direct deposit
• And much more…

I found and applied for this job on Yahoo hot jobs. The guy who wants me to be his personal assistant wants me to send and receive payments and he wants me to cash the checks at my bank (sounds fishy). The guy is in the UK so he needs a personal assistant to work from home. He has just informed me that he has sent me a package with contact information from his clients.

What I found strange is that i found a question on yahoo answers describing the same description but with a different company.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

Take a look at it

Do you think it is a scam and should I stop communicating with this guy?

Answer

"he wants me to cash the checks at my bank (sounds fishy)."

That's the scam. He's obscured it pretty well with the rest of the job description. You deposit his cheque and draw new cheques against it, which you'll send to him (whether you know it or not). His cheque bounces, yours clears, and you're on the hook to your bank for the entire amount.

Is there any scam free work at home jobs?

i need to make some cash, is there any work at home jobs that are not scams?

Answer

You actually have a few different options. There are a couple different home jobs you can do. The ones that are not scams, understand that they are minimum wage earnings, so you won't make a sufficient amount of money. After taxes, you will end up making below minimum wage. Here's a couple URL's you can take a look at and apply. I can't guarnatee that you'll get the job, home jobs are high in demand because of the gas prices which causes food and everything else to go up, but you can apply.
http://www.homecareerinfo.com/0235/mt
http://apply.westathome.com/
If you need more then a minimum wage job, then I suggest you take a look at a home based business opportunity. There are plenty of options out there through many different industries. My husband and I have had our home based business for many years in the telecommunications industry. It's an incredible adventure!
If you'd like some ideas on home based businesses, a friend of mine created a blog on her yahoo 360 page on this topic. Over half a dozen different industries to take a look at. I've had friends of mine who are in different industries and have their own business inside a business and do very well. A lot of information on my blog on scams, reports, bbb and a lot of other things you should read on. The URL to that is:

Are there any liget work at home jobs?97%are scams?

i have rescrched more then 50 work at home jobs and have not found one that is real, all seem to promise the world and deliver only lip service.i have not found any that are honest and up front, any one out there have had the same results?

Answer

I tried over 18 home businesses in the course of 3 years so please forgive the length of this post but you will find it very informative. Learn from my mistakes! Also make sure to read all the way to the bottom because I have included a list of the top 10 work at home scams. I am a mother of two little girls who are actually tugging on my arm as I write this so I will try to be brief. Many people are looking for work from home companies. All the scams definitely create a big problem but also, there is a problem of people misunderstanding the difference between work from home "jobs" and work from home opportunities. There really are not work from home “jobs”. To get that you have to start working for a company in their offices first, then they MAY allow you to take the job home.

Most of the work from home opportunities that are legitimate offers are not an hourly pay type job. They are business opportunities that help you in starting your own business from your home. What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less than $500 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $1000-$5000. It doesn’t cost that much to start and run a home business so you shouldn’t pay it.

If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are. I tried them many a times and 3 weeks later I had to buy this and 6 weeks later that. After 6 months these “free businesses” had cost me over $800 on average.

After trying 18 things I work about 18-25 hours per week for a National Medical Benefits Company. This is a nationally known and reputable home business which is what you need to make sure you are looking for. I have been with the company almost a year and a half now and I make over $3500 a month! In your first month, depending on how many hours you can work, I have seen people make anywhere from $500 to over $2500. And your income will increase each month because you get paid residual income as well.

The best part is they have 401(k), direct deposit, life insurance and a benefits package most of which you get from day one. In addition, there are no products, no hard selling or pushing, no cold calling, no home parties and no telemarketing! That was VERY important to me. I absolutely love working with them and I can't believe I am making what I am making and in so few hours per week. The neat thing is there are other people on your team that you work with so you are never alone. You have great team support and you get to know the other people on your team pretty well.

I was a bit apprehensive at first because I know a lot of companies are not legit but this company is the number one National Medical Benefits Company in the US. They are a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company actually sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance to which we are also members. Also they were featured in “The New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal” “Time Magazine” “American Medical Review” and even in the May 2008 issue of “Parents Magazine”. Even “60 Minutes” did a big special on this home based business.

Even more then all this is they are accepted at over 100,000 retailers nationwide. These are fortune 500 companies like Sears, Target, K-mart, Rite Aid, CVS, Wal-mart, Publix and more. These companies would never work with a company that was anything less than reputable.

www.workathomeplus.net

TOP 10 WORK AT HOME SCAMS:

10. Craft Assembly

This scam encourages you to assemble toys, dolls, or other craft projects at home with the promise of high per-piece rates. All you have to do is pay a fee up-front for the starter kit… which includes instructions and parts. Sounds good? Well, once you finish assembling your first batch of crafts, you'll be told by the company that they "don't meet our specifications." No matter what you won’t get paid.

9. Medical Billing

In this scam, you pay $300-$900 for everything (supposedly) you need to start your own medical billing service at home. You're promised state-of-the-art medical billing software, as well as a list of potential clients in your area.

What you're not told is that most medical clinics process their own bills, or outsource the processing to firms, not individuals. Your software may not meet their specifications, and often the lists of "potential clients" are outdated or just plain wrong.

8. Email/Rebate Processing

This is a twist on the classic "envelope stuffing scam" (see #1 below). For a low price ($50?) you can become a "highly-paid" email processor working "from the comfort of your own home."

Now… what do you suppose an email processor does? If you have visions of forwarding or editing emails, forget it. What you get for your money are instructions on spamming the same ad you responded to in newsgroups and Web forums!

7. "A List of Companies Looking for Home workers!"

In this one, you pay a small fee for a list of companies looking for home workers just like you. The only problem is that the list is usually a generic list of companies, companies that don't take home workers, or companies that may have accepted home workers long, long ago.

6. "Just Call This 1-900 Number For More Information…"

Not much to say here. Don’t Call!

5. Typing At Home / Data Entry

Here's how it works: After sending the fee to the scammer for "more information," you receive a disk and printed information that tells you to place home typist ads and sell copies of the disk to the suckers who reply to you. Like #8, this scam tries to turn you into a scammer!

4. "Turn Your Computer Into a Money-Making Machine!"

Well, this one's at least half-true. To be completely true, it should read: "Turn your computer into a money-making machine… for scammers!"

This is much the same scam as #5, above. Once you pay your money, you'll be sent instructions on how to place ads and pull in suckers to "turn their computers into money-making machines."

3. Pyramid Schemes (this is NOT the same as Multi-Level Marketing MLM)

If you've heard of network marketing (like Amway, Mary Kay or Pampered Chef), then you know that there are legitimate MLM businesses based on agents selling products or services.

The problem arises when there is no legitimate product or service at all and it is all about finding new recruits and not only can you lose all your money, but you can be charged with fraud, too!

2. Chain Letters/Emails ("Make Money Fast")

They promise that all you have to do is send the email along plus some money by mail to the top names on the list, then add your name to the bottom… and one day you'll be a millionaire.

Actually, the only thing you might be one day is prosecuted for fraud. This is a classic pyramid scheme.

1. Envelope Stuffing

This is THE classic work-at-home scam. It's been around since the U.S. Depression of the 1920s and 1930s, and it's moved onto the Internet like a cockroach you just can't eliminate.

There are several variations, but here's a sample: Much like #5 and #4 above, you are promised to be paid $1-2 for every envelope you stuff. All you have to do is send money and you're guaranteed "up to 1,000 envelopes a week that you can stuff… with postage and address already affixed!"

When you send your money, you get a short manual with flyer templates you're supposed to put up around town, advertising yet another harebrained work-from-home scheme.

SO that’s the top 10.

Please beware of these scams. There are some legit home businesses out there so be careful. Look for companies in business over 10 years. Look for companies with a needed product or service, something you would be proud to represent. Look for companies that have a national reputation and are members of the US Chamber of Commerce.

Also, don't be hung up on the BBB either. Did you know, common misconception here, that the BBB is NOT a government regulated agency? That in fact, they are local independently owned franchises where anyone, who pays the right price, can be a member in “good standing”. This is true!

As for those of you who say…..”I want to work from home but I don’t want to have to pay for anything”. Well, that’s great! But it will never happen. Let’s be honest, there is no such thing as a free lunch. As we talked about above there is a difference between a job and a business. You should NEVER have to pay for a job….but again…chances of finding a home job are about 3%. At any rate, if it is a true honest home business you need to expect to pay….Mr. Walt Disney didn’t start the Disney empire “without paying for anything”. Neither did Mr. Sam Walton, owner of Wal-Mart.

Is it legal to resell games, softwares, and videos that you’ve bought?

I have had this issue in my head for the past couple days, it all started one day with my friend. He bought a video in a retail store for around $30. After he and his family have watched it, he decided to make a copy of it for backup purposes. A friend of his proposed to buy the retail copy of the video for $8. The issue here is my friend is selling the retail copy for $8, not the copied one. Does reselling infringe any copyright law? I say it is illegal, but my friend’s family say it is not illegal because they are selling the retail copy.

If selling retail copies of a video is illegal, then why are video game stores allowed to buy people’s old video games and accessories? Do the stores have a special license or something?

Answer

its not illegal - people sell games, videos, software and other stuff on ebay and other sites all the time.

If he sold the copied version, that's illegal. It's not illegal to resell the original. People do it all the time.

Hello all

Im looking for an eBook website to start up an eBook business.
I currently sell a number of digital items in the public domain on eBay as well as a few other aucton sites such as QXL 121Bid etc.
But What Im looking for is my own eBook website.

Ideally Id very much like to divert people to a download page on that site when they purchase an item from me.

At the moment Im just linking directly to the item itself and I know that is'nt going to really generate me any repeat sales.

If I had an actuall website I could divert people to when such as a members area then Im sure it would increase my sales.

I know theres some eBook sites you can buy that come pre-filled with eBooks and its just a matter of installing that on your server and adjusting it but I thought Id ask on here to see if anyone could offer any advice about the whole matter and possibly point me in the right direction?

Or has anyone here had any experience setting up an eBook site?

There are a few web hosts that can assist you in building a website to sell your ebooks and promote them without spending your life savings. I suggest that you compare several. First compare feature by feature then dollar for dollar. This will help you to ensure that you find a web host that will suit your needs and your budget. If you are willing to learn a little web design and invest your time there are some great options. You can take a look at the web host that I use as a great comparison http://egoods.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDr…

i just read a ebay business guide thats its 100% legal to sell other people's ebooks on ebay, is this true?
I want to make money on ebay as simple as that, but idk how that could be legal at all.
any other ebay business ideas?

Answer

There are two ways this would be legal:

1. You have purchased each copy of the ebook you want to sell (so if you're offering 15 for sale, you actually bought 15 copies)

2. You have an agreement with the books publisher or author (if they are self published) that allows you to sell the book.

Other than that, I doubt it's legal.

Hello (please read entire question as it has details important to the answer) Thank you in advance

I am looking for the best/most popular item to import from China/Asia to resell to stores here in the USA. Currently I import Sterling Silver jewelry and it does well. However I am looking at expanding my offerings and am looking for another somewhat small, lightweight item with high value that I can import from Asia. (obviously thats not jewelry like I have now). Currently I sell to gift shops and that is my main market. So when I approach these gift shops I or my sales person can show them something other then jewelry to help give me selling options. The gift shops are "Hallmark" type stores that just sell generic gifts. I am not interested in importing greeting cards though as that market is too crowded. Any suggestions on what items you would like to see in stores or anything that is light weight, high value and great for gift shops will be appreciated.
Thank you! :)

Although I offer resell rights for the item I'm selling, I do not allow people to copy my copyrighted text and pictures (nor does ebay). I even added html code into the page to stop people from copying it (it prevents them from highlighting or right clicking anything), but somehow this person found a way around this. I already reported them to ebay and supplied my proof of copyright but I want to know how to prevent others.
I want to know how this person did this???

View > Source.

Then simply scavenge the site, or the more modern way is get a Internet Download Manager and just scour the site. Simply put, I'm sorry the best I can tell you to do is set it up more advanced; try using PHP and scrambling the source.

Also, drag n dropping photos off onto your desktop works too.

I run Windows XP in a Franken-Computer with an Intel Duel Core and 1 GB RAM.

I have Symantec/Norton Anti Virus and my Subscription is up in 29 days.

If I remember correctly, it will like like, $50.00 to renew the subscription.

ALL I hear is that Norton and ANYTHING Symantec is a worthless piece of crap.

So I'm wondering… For about the price of renewing my Norton, can you recomend an Anti Virus Software that is better?

This is the computer that I use for my small business so I'm VERY paranoid and would like the best I can afford but as of right now… Under $80.00 is as good as I can do.

I greatly appreciate any help!!!

Answer :

if you are going to go with AVG, don't even bother with the free version. if you really are paranoid about security, then pay for version 8. Symantec gets a bad rap but they actually are very good. the only problem with them is
* Some products (like Norton 360) are huge and take up a lot of resources. this will slow down your computer's performance. (i would never recommend anything beyond internet security.)
* Installation can sometimes go wrong. if it does you have to download an uninstaller program, run and reinstall the software again. that is it. but most people don't like to read instructions or call tech support.

Anti-virus/spyware programs are designed for prevention. they are useless once your computer is infected. no matter how good the program is it will do very little

if AVG does not have anti-virus protection, get their anti-virus program. you will usually have the least amount of problems when you stick to the same vendor.

Quick books seems geared toward bisnesses and a bit more complicated than I want or need. WHat else is good.

Answer :

Quicken and Microsoft Money are very comparable. CNet reviews give both of them a 7.3 rating on a 1-10 scale.

I have used both - and currently use Microsoft Money. While both software versions say you can convert between them, you really don't want to do that because you can end up with corrupted files over time (has happened to me).

I would look around and see which one you can get the best price on and choose that way - if you do your taxes with TurboTax, you can get a rebate on Quicken, so that might be your best bet.

I am looking for something that i don't have to invest a whole lot in to get started as in online sales

Answer :

Having a home based business is great! You need to find something that you believe in and sale a product that everyone needs. The income opportunity is incredible. Most home based business cost under $500. Some cost more depending on what it is you want to do. I don't know what you like to do, so I can only tell you what my husband and I started over six years ago and point you out to some others to take a look at. Ours well supports our family of six. We have four children ages 10, 6, 3 and 1.
We got involved in the telecommunications industry with a world wide company that's over 15 years old. We've been featured in several magazines Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company. They offer services that people use every day and pay for anyway, but now they can have a lower cost. Services such as local and long distance phones, Internet, digital phones, video phones (you can see the person your taking to live)VOIP, Satellite TV, and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltell, Nextell etc. have partnered up with them too.
How many people do you know, or know of, that uses one or more of these services? How would you feel if you could save people money on services that they're already using, or offer them services that they don't have but want? Every time they pay their bills each month, you make a percentage off these bills every single month. Huge income opportunity. It's incredible how much money is involved in this industry.
If you'd like more information feel free to email me and I'll be happy to pass it along to you.

I also created a blog on my 360 page on home based business's. There's over half a dozen different ones to take a look at. Your more then welcome to browse through them. If you find one that's interesting, contact the person who wrote it and they can point you out in the right direction.

Small Business

Best country to start small business and live in - France or Iceland?

I would like to ask only to those who have direct or close friend experience about these countries - which is the best one to live in in your opinion?

I want to start a business (I have already a strong clientele, so do not think much about cost of living), and then buy a house in the country I am going to. I love both countries, and I have visited them many times, not only as a tourist. I know - Paris and Reykjavik could not be more different cities, but I want to hear your opinions.

Thanks.

Answer

Well, I love Europe in general. Both are westernized and very modern countries, but Iceland is ranked the #1 most developed country in the world. There is basically 0% poverty, and the quality of life is very high. However, the culture might not be cosmopolitan enough. I love in America, so anywhere in Europe is a step up, but, living in the Ile de France is my dream and there is nothing like Paris and its suburbs. Urban life and culture has been mastered in Paris and it is my favorite city in the world. Also, the suburbs are great as well. Everything has this sort of urbaness to it. Reykjavik is also nice as well and is known for its sort of "up north" chicness with clubs and boutiques, but it might seem a little desolate for somebody who is concidering Paris. Also, I think the small business market may be better in the Paris area and I don't know what particular business you own, but most places in Europe are designed so small businesses thrive. There are no highways fil
led with strip malls and most stores are located on walkable streets and highways only help the Paris metro as the highways in Europe are really nice in general. Also, Europeans and especially the French appreciate small businesses and goods. In Iceland, I am sure there are similarities, but I think there is not as much opportunity life wise. You could easily do just as well in both, but the Paris metro allows people to live great and exciting lives. Everything is connected by RER and although Iceland is also a great country, the quality of life in France is better. Granted, Paris is ranked way below Iceland in some areas of freedom/government and the quality of life based on monetary value is not as high, but there is nothing like France. It is probably the best country in the world.

Accounting??? Any accountants please answer…?

This may be a dumb question and please don't be mean with the answers, but what exactly do accountants do?

How many years to you need to complete in school and what degrees do you need to attain?

Whats the average starting pay of an accountant?

Thanks in advance for all answers…

Answer

I work as an accounting assistant at the moment and and on around $40k. The accountant at work gets around $60k. I think Chartered Accountants get more. Its quite interesting and varied. You get to understand the workings of a business, not just number crunching. I think you can do like an entry level degree over 3yrs full time which will put your foot in the door of a Chartered Accountant as a junior or somewhere as an assistant like me. Theres alot to know and its also a very good base if you decide to go into business for yourself later as you'll be able to do all your own accounts.

Best site for Small Business Grants for women?

I have a small business, in business (barely) for a year, and need to get info into best site for information on small business grants?

I appreciate any information or suggestion you have.
I am trying to keep my head above water, and started with little to no money in my name.
I am 39 years old, with 2 sons, single parent.
my business is small, concierge services. I am also developing an ag tour that goes to farms here and a fishpond.
part of my proceeds goes back to these farms and fishpond, in an effort to help them stay afloat as well. I am in the business of making more revenue for established businesses, namely, the farms. farmers need all the help they can get nowadays.

please help me if you can. much appreciated

Answer

It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business.

One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/… , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs.

Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other special interest groups — minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, particularly women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include

Iowa Women's Foundation http://www.iawf.org/
New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CO…

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE'S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALO…

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

I suggest you read the following books to get ideas of how to finance your business:

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

Best way to advertise small business without a marketing budget?

I am starting a small, computer system building business. The specifics, I believe, has potential to do very well (though I don't expect to become the next Michael Dell). The problem is, I have no money to my name to advertise with. Is there a good way to market that costs nothing (or, at very least, a minimal amount)?

Answer

The best free advertising is a good reputation and word of mouth, starting with your own. Always carry a lots of business cards, making it a point to give x amount (lots of them) away every week, do this while you tell exactly what can be expect from your service and of you, offer some kind of guarantee or follow-up service, Then when you are called upon, work to build a great reputation by being super professional: show up early, have a great attitude and show your gratitude for the opportunity to do business.

Give referral 'rewards' to satisfied customers.

Do Community service: Offer a free service or 'service donation' to a local community non-profit organisation with media clout and good local network with businesses such as a community radio station, library, schools, churches, etc.

What's the best small business to start?

The best market, product, people.. etc..

Answer

The best small business is the one you have a passion for. All small businesses are the same around the world. If you start a small business based on numbers, profit etc, then you will be miserable, have a bad business, and fail. The guy next to you with the same business might thrive, become a millionaire…..because he has a passion for what he does. Do what you know, and love what you do.

Answer

you deal with cash, and at the end of the day you deposit the extra with your bank. or you deposit everything with your bank, and your bank gives you back, say, some singles fives and change to use tomorrow. that's how it's usually done.

I am a college student in the US, and is looking for another point of view, advice for small business ideas that requires minimal investment. In the past I purchased costume jewelry from India, but the market is now saturated with cheap jewelry coming from china that making a profit is not possible. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What is the most lucrative home business(minus amway stuff) I am wanting to keep my wife home.?

Answer

The best and legitimate home business will depend on what your wife wants, how she defines to be interesting. A person may consider a pet sitting business to be the most exciting work in the world, while another person would rather watch TV than take care of dogs.

The key is to determine what her interests are, what she wants to do, what is suitable for your lifestyle and your overall goals, and what can fit with your resources.

Dan Ramsey in his book "101 Best Home Businesses" has a chapter on how to find YOUR best home business. He suggests these 10 steps:

1. List 5 things you do best
2. List how others would benefit from what you do best
3. Find out how to give people what they want
4. Learn the value of your services to others
5. Find out who else offers similar services
6. Learn from the successes of others
7. Learn from the failures of others
8. Plan your own success
9. Make low cost mistakes
10. Enjoy what you do and how you do it

He then made suggestions on the best home businesses according to type. Here are a few of them:

Best Businesses Using Craft or Physical Skills
- antique restoration
- auto detail service
- carpet cleaning business
- errand/delivery service

Yes they are very real and their are some really good companies out their I am a mom of 4 and have been working from home for a while. Its possible to find companies without fees or upfront charges.

Wanting to work from home any ideals?

I want to work from home. I have 2 boys and my husband and and i work 2 dif shifts since we have been married and we want to have a life as a family. he works 1st shift and i work 3rd shift. can anyone help?

Answer

my cousin is a medical transcriptionist. I dont think she even had to go to school. You go to a class or two or something simple and then you listen to medical tapes and type what they say. My cousin does it like four days a week for a few hours, but she's at home and can watch her three little ones.

Or you could try something that's a little slower, but if you have a lot of unused books, movies, dvds, cds…e.tc, sell em on ebay. It's very easy, step by step, and legitimate. It's nice to get a little check from ebay every two-three weeks.

There are also companies where you put together items for them (usually like ink pens or pins you wear). You are sent bulk items and you get paid per each complete and returned item.

Good luck!

Franchise wanted. Work at home. No scam. No selling, buying, sponsoring, free to join. Every body gets paid?

um yeah i would do it, but this is the internet… everything is almost a scam

I was wondering if anyone knows of any kind of work online or work from home jobs? Not rip offs, please!?

I am wanting to be able to work and earn some extra money from the comfront of my own home. I have looked online and found nothing but rip offs. I live in New Orleans, LA. If that helps.

Answer

I want to know too! All of found are scams and ridiculous rip offs…Hope you get a good answer!

Are there any legitiment work at home jobs?

Due to a recent split, I know am a single parent of a 4 year old and a now must pay all the bills on just my income. I'd like to look into some of the work at home jobs but don't know which ones are legit and which ones are scams. I've done some research on them and found that all ask a fee and I wouldn't mind paying a fee but I don't have the money to keep paying fees until I found a legit one. It's extremely rough being a single parent and I could really use the extra income, I was wondering if anyone knows a work at home job that isn't a scam maybe one that doesn't charge you? It's greatly appreciated!

Answer

Send me a mesage on here, I will give you a legit one that I am doing, I can only invite 10 people. This is not a full income job. It can depending on the time you are on the computer bring in 100 to 300 bucks a week. You have to be a good typer and have high speed internet. You pay nothing, this is a true telecommuting job. Let me know if you interested. There are tests you will have to take, typing is one of them.

How does the Hilton hotel reservations "Work at Home" call center job work?

I used to work at a Hilton reservations call center a long time ago and I remember it being a decent job so I decided to look into working for them again. The closest call center is a little over an hour away (not including traffic)! Then I read on their website that they have work at home jobs for their Dallas and Tampa locations. This would be perfect for me HOWEVER it says you have to live in a particular area code to apply. Like I said before, I do live in the general area of one of these call centers and I do know people who live in that area code.

My question is why does the area code matter? Do they want to make sure you live close enough for training? Do you need a working landline with that area code in order to receive the phone calls? Would I be able to give them my friend's address and phone number to apply and get the job and then work out the details later? Anyone who has done this or has knowledge of this, please let me know how it works!!

Answer

Each call center company will have different restrictions as to location, some don't have any at all. There are many companies out there so don't limit yourself to this one if you don't meet their requirements. If you go to http://workathomedesk.com/directory/virt… you find a good comprehensive list of legitimate virtual call center companies. I would suggest you apply to several at one time. I would also reccommend West At Home. I would with them previously and they are an excellent company to work for. Your friends would probably just need to apply to that hilton job on there own.

Good luck!

Does anyone work from home or telecommute?

I am looking for honest answers if you work from home, own your own business , or work for a company please let me know. I am interested in all aspects of it , and i would also like to know how to get started , what companies offer it , and just the basics. Please anyone with real answers thats actually doing it right now please respond. I will pick best answer.

Answer

You are probably receiving a lot of information about possible work from home jobs. I have been in your shoes and have spent many hours online researching and trying to find the right one. The one thing that I ended up figuring out is that there are no true work from home "jobs." In a work from home job you usually start out working for a company and then for whatever reason, sometimes, the company will let you take your job home; thus work from home job. I would never pay a company to work from home.

However, there are many work from home “opportunities.” These opportunities provide you with the vehicle to work from home and build your own business. The difficult or frustrating part about finding the right opportunity is that there are many offers that are not legitimate, but scams. Theses scams make it difficult for the companies that truly offer a legitimate opportunity to work from home. Usually, work from home opportunities have a small investment to start your own business. These are okay as long as they are around $100, anything much more than that and I would stay away. Also if they require a monthly overhead to run the business it should include things like your websites, training, back office system, and support. Remember any business that you start and want to continue will always have start up costs and monthly expenses, if it doesn't then it is probably not a legit business.

I am a stay at home mother of 2 (ages 4 and 2). My husband works 6 days a week and I do not have much help in the area of child care for my children. On my journey to finding the right work from home opportunity I tried everything from selling vitamins, lotions and many other product based companies. I also looked into processing information online. What I realized with all these companies is that I usually put more money back into my business and ended up with lots of product I really did not need. I also was very skeptical of some of those online work from home websites that really never got to the point of what I would be doing to earn income.

Finally, I was given information on a legitimate work from home company. At first I was very skeptical and paid no attention to the information. Then one day my mother needed to have some dental work done but had no insurance. I remembered that I had some information on discount dental plans. Once I researched the information I had been given, I realized that I could provide my mother with a way to pay less for her procedure and earn an income for signing her onto the discount dental plan. I have been with the company since and am on the fast track toward building a residual income.

I work 15 hours a week (give or take a few) for a National Discount Medical Benefits Company. The company has been in business for over 16 years and is continuing to expand! We have been featured on "60 minutes", "The New York Times", "Wall Street Journal", "Time Magazine", and "American Medical Review" as one of the most reputable, legitimate home business based companies. We are members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance, which we are also a part of their membership.

Our company addresses the number one problem in US, which is that 70% of Americans can't afford or can't get health insurance for whatever reason. We are an alternative for people who are suffering with their health because of this issue. Now to work for our company you don't have to know everything there is to know about Health Care. Our company will train you on how to communicate our services to those who need it. We have over 2 million members that use our plans and save money on their health care.

When you work for the company you are able to set your own hours and build a residual income while you work. Because we get paid month after month, year after year for the work we do our income is always increasing and we get paid even when we don’t work. The company also does not enforce a monthly quota, which was important to me. I wanted to have the flexibility to work when I wanted and how much I wanted. Of course the more you put into your business the more income you will receive.

Some of the benefits we offer are 401k, direct deposit, life insurance and a family benefit package for your entire household. The next best thing is there is no cold calling, telemarketing, stocking of inventory, collecting of payments, and no home parties! This was very important to me as I had the child care issue to deal with and wanted to be able to stay home and work without having to leave my house.

Another great thing about our company is that we all work together to as a team. We are not out to compete with our fellow representatives. Whenever I need advice my team is there to help me to be a success. This was also very important as I was new to the business and wanted the team support you get working a 9-5 job without having to work the 9-5 job. I have also made many friends along the way and still have the interaction with adults while taking care of my children at home.

I guess I could go on and on about what we do and how we get paid, but the best thing for you to do is research the company for yourself and determine if it is right for you.

Best way to earn money in home on internet?

Genuine way to work on internet for earning money while staying in home.

Answer

Try some online jobs, where you don’t have to pay upfront money. Online data entry is an excellent career to consider if you want to work at home. The equipment needed for this type of job is very minimal. You only need a computer with an Internet connection, a table and a comfortable chair. Data entry duties include the inputting of correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets into a home computer and then transmitting that data using the Internet. Work at home data entry personnel may also proofread text, edit information, and maintain databases. Data entry jobs usually offer flexible scheduling, allowing people to work when they want to and as little or as much as they want to. Some of the growing fields for work at home data entry include medical and legal transcription, medical coding and litigation coding.

http://workathome-sa.blogspot.com/

How do you determine internet tax deductions for home business?

I have enough to itemize deductions, as opposed to taking the standard rate. The service is used for business and personal use.

Answer

Not sure what you're asking. If you're asking about deducting your internet service as a business expense, that's not allowed. Like basic local phone service it's presumed that you'd have internet access anyway so basic service isn't deductible.

Now, if you had to use a premium business-class internet service (T-1, SDSL, VDSL, ect.) you could deduct the additional cost compared to consumer-class internet service, apportioned betweem the business and personal use.

Also, business expenses don't go on Schedule A. They are not itemized deductions. Business expenses go on Schedule C along with the business income.

Any computer based home business ideas?

I'm looking to do something online to bring in a little money on the side. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Answer

An excellent source for finding a legitimate home-based business is to check out Direct Selling Association (DSA) at http://www.dsa.org. DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers.

My advice is to go where the money is and that is travel. Travel is a $7.1 billion industry and growing every day. A Baby Boomer is retiring every 8 seconds and the first thing they want to do is travel. The average family in the United States spends $4,200 annually on travel. This is why my wife and I started our own online travel business. We’ve looked for years for a home based business and this is the first thing that made sense to us. The best part is that it sells itself. All you have to do is tell people about it. The industry commissions are already built in. You can also learn to save thousands on your taxes and travel wholesale instead of retail. The company that we work through is publicly traded, SEC regulated, has a $6,000 guarantee, and even offers health insurance. They even send their top agents on a cruise to the Bahamas. No one else does this. We love this business!

What other home business do you like? Like tupperware, avon,?

marykay, longaberger,
what other ones do you like?

Answer

There is a home based businesses that ties eBay to search engines where you get commissions on the sales, all you have to do is distribute the free software

http://www.mymarketinggenie.com/tamparay

What is the best home base business that are honest businesses with little investment?

Answer

What is the best Home Business to join that is honest and does not cheat?

Answer

Home buisness, any real ones out there?

Is there really any that are legit?

Answer

There are plenty of real home businesses. I have been with Tupperware since '03. There are plenty of home party plans that have been around for years. People think that you don't make money with a company like Tupperware or that only the top few make any money. That isn't true and if you look into the companies you will see the proof.

What is a good "work from home" business?

I recently lost my job as a sales rep. I want to find something that I can do from home. Maybe with selling involved. Not stuffing envelopes.
I like working with people.

Answer

Sounds like you should check out a Network Marketing Business, but most are expensive to join. I seen one at mysecuredsuccess that is letting people join Roadmap to Riches for only almost nothing.
